History

The Paradise Fire Department was officially formed as the Paradise Volunteer Firefighters Unit in 1944.

In 1951, the Paradise Fire Protection District was formed to provide full time paid firefighters, in addition to the existing Volunteer Firefighting group.

The Department expanded to two fire stations in 1959, and in 1965 a third station was added.

In 1980, the Paradise Fire Protection District was dissolved and the Paradise Fire Department became part of the newly-incorporated "Town of Paradise."

 Mission

The Fire Department has changed from its original mission of providing fire suppression service. Since 1944, the Fire Department has added emergency medical response, vehicle extrication, technical rescue response and hazardous materials incident capabilities. In addition to emergency response, the Fire Department's mission includes fire prevention and public education as a means to reduce the number of fires and reduce the impact of fires that do occur.
