The Town of Paradise receives a Community Development Block Grant under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In accordance with the Housing and Community Development Act (HCDA) of 1987, as amended, the primary objective of the Town of Paradise CDBG Program is the development of a viable urban community, including decent housing, a suitable living environment, and the expansion of economic opportunities, principally for persons of low/moderate income. To accomplish this objective, activities which 1) benefit low/moderate income persons, 2) aid in the elimination/prevention of slums or blight, 3) meet other urgent community development needs having particular urgency for which no other funds are available, will be given priority. Public participation is requested. You're probably wondering how someone could just visit Paradise. If you visited, wouldn't you want to stay? Whether you are here for a couple of hours or a couple of days, you can find your Paradise here. Are we there yet? Paradise is a short drive from the Bay Area and Sacramento. The drive isn't too bad, either. You will move along the valley floor through orchards and past roadside fruit stands. As you near Paradise, you will climb from the valley floor, past the oaks and into the pines. The contrast is breathtaking. What do you want to do? Well, let's see, there is Gold Nugget Days, Johnny Appleseed Days, and the Paradise Chocolate Festival. There are Crusin' Weekend car shows, Juke Box Saturday Night at the Paradise Performing Arts Center, and the Thursday night Farmer's Market. Still more awaits you at the museums, along the trails, and in the parks. Check the Chamber's events calendar for more details. I'm hungry! As you should be after doing all of the wonderful activities in store for you. Local dining is family friendly and offers a full array of pallate pleasing pleasures. For breakfast, try the pancakes at Debbie's , the anytime delight of guilt-free of sipping chocolate at Cocoa de Armitche, or rub elbows with the creators of the Paradise Chocolate Festival at Joy-Lyn's Candies. You can't go wrong - it's Paradise! I'm tired! If that day trip turns into a weekend, we understand. Can't say that we blame you. Lodging in Paradise is available at several fine motels. The Chamber can help direct you to those properties. If a bed and breakfast is more your style then you simply must try the Chappelle de L'Artiste. Cliff and Melissa have redefined hospitality and you won't quarrel with the new definition. By now you have figured out that one trip just won't be enough to see and do all that is Paradise. That's OK - we serve unlimited refills! So drive carefully, and we will see you in YOUR Paradise. |
