Building - Home Print

The Building Division's Number 1 goal is consumer safety.  Whether you are experienced contractor or a novice owner-builder, the Building Division is charged with ensuring that both the consumer's and the public's health and safety are protected.  This is done by reviewing and approving the project's construction plans, and then by field inspecting the construction.  Construction of any type in the foothills is governed by an ever-changing body of codes and regulations.  Some cover general construction standards, while others address energy conservation, green building technology, and the reality of building and living in a high fire danger environment.  As State and local public safety resources are strained, it becomes even more important for home and business owners to do the most that they can to protect their property from fire and other hazards.  The Building Division is here to assist you in that effort.

A Building Permit is not Required, is a publication that will answer some very basic questions.  The Building Permit Application Checklist provides details on how to successfully prepare and submit construction plans.
