| 2010-2015 CDBG Consolidated Plan - Public Input Needed |
2010-2015 Consolidated Plan and 2010-2011 Annual Plan Update: DRAFT Consolidated Plan and Draft Annual Plan now available. The Town of Paradise receives a Community Development Block Grant under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Town’s Consolidated Plan must be revised every 5 years; the Annual Action Plan is changed each year to reflect new budget appropriations and project allocations. In accordance with the Housing and Community Development Act (HCDA) of 1987, as amended, the primary objective of the Town of Paradise CDBG Program is the development of a viable urban community, including decent housing, a suitable living environment, and the expansion of economic opportunities, principally for persons of low/moderate income. To accomplish this objective, activities which 1) benefit low/moderate income persons, 2) aid in the elimination/prevention of slums or blight, 3) meet other urgent community development needs having particular urgency for which no other funds are available, will be given priority. Public participation is requested. Please attend one of the public hearings or submit written comments to Lauren Gill, Business & Housing Services, 5555 Skyway, Paradise, CA 95969 or email: lgill@townofparadise.com.

In football they call it "in the trenches" - the grind it out hard work that the linemen do week in and week out that protects the golden armed quarterback or opens a hole for the lightning quick running back. In Paradise, our people "in the trenches" are called the Public Works Department. Although you won't read about them in Sports Illustrated or see them on Sports Center, they are the people that keep the roads safe, the storm water out of your house, and the ice and snow out of the way so that you can drop the kids off at school, get to work on time, swing by the grocery store, or pick up that prescription for grandma. The work is not glamorous, but it is the underpinning of community and commerce. To ensure the highest quality service to the community, the Public Works Department is divided into 3 divisions - Engineering, On-site Sanitation, and Street Maintenance. The Engineering Division is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of all public works projects in the town. The On-site Sanitation Division safeguards the public health by monitoring the installation and operation of on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems. Street Maintenance personnel are engaged in numerous activities, such as road striping, pavement repair, road side vegatation management, and emergency snow removal. |
