Town Clerk - Election Information Print

November 6, 2012 General Municipal Election

Three seats on the Paradise Town Council will be decided at the November 6, 2012 General Municipal Election.  The successful candidate will serve a four-year term of office generally beginning on the first Council Meeting in December 2012 through the first Council Meeting in December, 2016. The upcoming vacancies will occur as a result of the expiration of terms of office for the positions currently held by Steve “Woody” Culleton, Joe DiDuca and Alan White.

General Qualifications:  Persons must be a United States citizen at least 18 years of age and be a registered voter of the Town of Paradise.  No filing fee is required, but if candidates want a statement of qualifications printed in the sample ballot a $450 deposit is required.  This is an estimated amount that could change.

Nomination Period:  Opens Monday, July 16, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. and closes Friday, August 10, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.  However, if one or more of the incumbents do not file, the nomination period will be extended through Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.  All candidates who qualify will have their names placed on the November 6, 2012 General Election Ballot.

Qualification Process:  The Town Clerk is the Elections Official for the Town of Paradise and provides a “Candidate Packet” containing the necessary forms and information required for a person to qualify as a Town Council candidate.  The nomination paper must be issued by the Town Clerk or her designee. All required documents must be filed with the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the last day of the nomination period.  It is recommended that you call ahead to make an appointment as the office will often be closed during the lunch hour.  Plan to spend 30 - 45 minutes to review the candidate nomination process and documents.
