SPRING BURN PERIOD MARCH, APRIL and MAY - ALTERNATING EAST AND WEST OF CLARK RD.

 LIMITED BURNING

  • Open residential burning will be allowed starting March 1st. In the absence of continued rain through the late winter/early spring, the Fire Chief may suspend burning prior to May 31st.  The determination of whether to suspend burning or not will be made by the Fire Chief based on the fire risk. Please call the Paradise Burn Information line at (530) 872-6264 x 1 to check the status of burning after March 31, 2018. Residential burning is not allowed on properties participating in the State of California’s debris removal program or an alternative debris removal program until the debris removal work has been completed

WHO CAN BURN/HOW TO OBTAIN A PERMIT:

  • Residential burning is permitted only with a valid burn permit.
  • Residential burning is permitted with a valid permit on properties where no qualifying structures were damaged or destroyed by the camp fire.
  • Residential burning is permitted with a valid permit on properties where qualifying structures were damaged or destroyed only after debris removal has been completed by the CAL OES debris removal program or an alternate debris removal program.

Permits are available in person at the Paradise Fire Department located at 767 Birch St. Paradise, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon. ($25 cash or check).

WHEN YOU CAN BURN:

  • Only on days approved by the Butte County Air Quality Management District (BCAQMD). Prior to burning please call BCAQMD at 332-9407 for daily burn status, listen to option 2 for information specific to Paradise.
  • March 1, 2019 through May 31, 2019: On permissive burn days approved by BCAQMD, residents may burn alternating East and West Zones. Residents East of Clark Rd. may burn the 1st through the 15th of the month; residents West of Clark Rd. may burn the 16th through the end of the month. BURNING MAY BE SUSPENDED PRIOR TO May 31st depending on weather conditions.
  • 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (fire and embers must be completely extinguished by 2:00 p.m.).
  • Burning may be suspended during periods of strong wind. Any suspension will be reflected in the BCAQMD daily burn status.
