BURN PERIOD NOV 16th, 2020 through May 31st, 2021

ALTERNATING EAST AND WEST OF CLARK RD RESTRICTION HAS BEEN SUSPENDED

 

OPEN BURNING 

 

  • With the recent rainfall, the wildfire risk has significantly diminished.  To assist property owners with removal of vegetation waste created by the Camp Fire the Fire Chief is allowing burning from Nov 16th 2020 through May 31st, 2021 with a valid permit and has suspended the East/West restriction. In the absence of continued rain through the late winter/early spring, the Fire Chief may suspend burning prior to May 31st.  The determination of whether to suspend burning will be made by the Fire Chief based on the fire risk. Please call the Paradise Burn Information line at (530) 872-6264 x 1 to check the status of burning after Nov 16th, 2020

WHO CAN BURN/HOW TO OBTAIN A PERMIT:

  • Residential burning is permitted only with a valid burn permit. Permits issued in 2020 are valid until December 31st, 2020. January 1st, 2021 new permits are required.

 

  •  Residential Burn Permits are available on-line at the following link: Town of Paradise Burn Permits or in person at the Paradise Fire Department located at 767 Birch St. Paradise, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon.  ($25 cash or check). 

 

  • Fuel Reduction Permits can be obtained in person at the same location and times above. ($56.91 cash or check)

 

WHEN YOU CAN BURN:

  • Only on days approved by the Butte County Air Quality Management District (BCAQMD).  Prior to burning please call BCAQMD at (530) 332-9407 for daily burn status, listen to option 2 for information specific to Paradise.

 

  • Nov 16th, 2020 through May 31, 2021:  On permissive burn days approved by BCAQMD. The alternating East and West Zones restriction has been temporarily suspended. Burning will be allowed throughout the Town on permissible burn days. Poor air quality may require the East and West Zones restriction to be re-implemented.

 

  •  Burn times 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

  • Burning may be suspended during periods of strong wind.  Any suspension or restrictions will be reflected in the BCAQMD daily burn status.
