Burn Information and Permits

Burn Period Currently:  CLOSED

For special permits such as fuels reduction, special event/ceremonial, etc please contact the Fire Department.  

Residential burning is not allowed on properties with a qualifying structure that has been damaged or destroyed by the Camp Fire until debris removal work has been completed by the CAL OES debris removal program or an alternate debris removal program.

The regular burn period runs March, April and May, with a provisional burn period in the fall.  Within the allowed burn periods permits are valid for the  calendar year.  With a valid burn permit citizens can burn dry vegetative waste only.  Even with a valid permit, citizens must contact Butte County Air Quality Management District to ensure that it is a permissible burn day; if burning is suspended due to fire hazard or air quality reasons it will be reflected in the recording.  See the application for specific requirements. From mid-February until May 31, permits can be purchased with a credit card using the link above, or at Paradise Fire Station 81 at 767 Birch St, paying with cash or check only.  The cost for a residential burn permit is $25.00.
