Adoptions

The Paradise Animal Shelter has wonderful dogs and cats looking for a forever home.  All of our animals are evaluated upon arrival and all healthy animals are vaccinated, de-wormed, and treated for fleas and ticks within 48 hours of their entry to the Shelter.

Due to the high incidents of Rabies in this area, you are required to pay for a rabies vaccination at the time you pick up your new pet from the veterinarian.

A free health exam is provided by our local veterinarians within 7 days of adoption. Our local veterinarians have reduced the cost of the spay/neuter for the animals adopted from our shelter and Paradise Animal Shelter Helpers (PASH), is paying this low cost for you.  Any pain medication supplied by the veterinarian at the time of altering, is the responsibility of the new owner.

You can view the animals in our shelter by visiting one of the following:

Volunteer with PASH

Paradise Animal Shelter Helpers (PASH) is the volunteer organization that works with our Shelter to improve the lives of animals.  The PASH volunteers do everything from helping socialize animals in the shelter, clean holding areas, help keep the exterior areas of Shelter tidy, help with fundraising and paying for all spay/neuter procedures for animals adopted from the Shelter.  If you would like to get involved, PASH would love to hear from you!

IF YOU HAVE LOST A PET . . .

  • Search for your pet on foot and by car. Check with your neighbors, mail carriers, walkers, etc.
  • Post lost pet notices on bulletin boards with a complete description of your pet and a picture.  A picture is very helpful in locating a missing pet.
  • Come to the Animal Shelter in person. YOU are the only one who can positively identify your pet. Fill out a missing pet report at the shelter.
  • You must renew your lost or found animal report in person EVERY THREE DAYS with the Paradise Animal Shelter or your report will be deleted.
  • Advertise in local newspapers.
  • Check the lost and found in local newspapers.
  • Check with local veterinarians and emergency clinics. Occasionally people will bring an injured animal they have found to a veterinary hospital for treatment.

PREVENTION

  • LICENSE your dog and keep identification on your pet at all times.
  • Train your pet to come when you call.
  • Walk your dog on a leash.
  • Spay/Neuter your pet.
  • Micro-chip your pet.  All pets are scanned when they enter the shelter.
