Rose Tryon was elected to a four-year term on the Town Council on November 3, 2020.

Rose Tryon is a lifelong Northern California resident and has lived in Paradise for over ten years. Her husband, Michael VanCott, has lived in Paradise for nearly 30 years, and his children went to Paradise schools.  Rose and Michael lost their home in the devastating forest fire that destroyed the town of Paradise, California, in 2018.  They have rebuilt their home in Paradise. Rose was elected to the Paradise Town Council in 2020. She currently represents the Town of Paradise on the Butte County Air Quality Management District Governing Board and the Butte County Association of Governments.

Rose is a retired District Attorney investigator who specialized in child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence investigations. She is also a full-charge bookkeeper specializing in agricultural accounting.

She currently serves as the National President of American Agri-Women (AAW) and served as the 25th State President of California Women for Agriculture (CWA). AAW and CWA are national and State non-profit, all-volunteer organizations supporting agriculture and rural communities. Rose serves on the Butte County Farm Board of Directors and is a Farm Journal Foundation Farmer Ambassador for Northern California.

Rose enjoys collaborating with people from diverse social and economic backgrounds and has been a longtime advocate for the health of rural communities.
