Lighted Truck Parade

PRESS RELEASE Town of Paradise and Lighted Truck Parade Organizers Partner to Keep Holiday Tradition Shining Bright

Date:  November 12, 2025

Paradise, CA - The Town of Paradise is pleased to announce that, through close collaboration with the organizers of the annual Lighted Truck Parade, a solution has been reached that will allow this beloved community tradition to continue safely this year and for years to come.

The Lighted Truck Parade has long been a highlight of the holiday season in Paradise, bringing joy to residents and visitors alike. The Town received the original parade application in September 2025, when organizers requested road closures and detours for this year’s route. Recognizing the importance of ensuring a safe and successful event, Town staff worked closely with parade organizers, meeting with them on September 15th, to explore alternatives, including potential route adjustments and corresponding requirements, summarized below:

  1. A downtown route along Almond Street, allowing for full road closure without a formal traffic control plan, or
  2. The proposed Skyway/Pearson Road route, which—due to higher traffic volumes and complex intersections—would require a formal traffic control plan prepared in accordance with Paradise Municipal Code Section 12.14.170 and the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD) to ensure the safety of participants and the community at large.

Town staff was then contacted  by the volunteer organizers on November 10th, at which time Town staff reviewed the submittal for the organizer-chosen Skyway route and determined that additional documented safety measures were needed to meet state and local standards.

To avoid delay and financial hardship to the volunteer organizers, the Town contacted Basin Enterprises, a regional traffic safety company, which has graciously agreed to donate the preparation of a professional traffic control plan and related safety materials at no cost. This generous contribution ensures the parade can proceed safely, while fulfilling the Town’s responsibility to protect public participants, volunteers, and spectators.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Basin Enterprises for stepping up to help make this cherished community tradition possible,” said Paradise Mayor Steve Crowder.  “Their support allows the event to move forward safely and in compliance with traffic safety standards, which benefits everyone who comes out to enjoy it.”

The Town of Paradise looks forward to once again celebrating this joyful event with the community.
