November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election

TWO SEATS ON THE PARADISE TOWN COUNCIL will be decided at the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election. The successful candidates will each serve a four-year term of office beginning on the first Council Meeting in December 2026 through the first Council Meeting in December, 2030. The 2026 vacancies will occur as a result of the expiration of terms of office for the positions held by Ronald Lassonde, and Steve Crowder.  The Town of Paradise is consolidated with the state general election.  Melanie Elvis, Paradise Town Clerk, serves as the election official for the Town of Paradise and issues nomination petitions and files campaign statements and documentation.

Nomination Period

The nomination period opens July 13, 2026 and closes August 7, 2026.  Nomination petitions must be issued by the Town Clerk and it is recommended that candidates make an appointment and allow 30 minutes to review the candidate nomination process and necessary documents required.  If an incumbent does not file for office, the nomination period will extend for five calendars days.

Candidates and Officeholder Information in Brief

Candidates and office holders are required to file certain financial and campaign information with the Town Clerk pursuant to Government code regulations that were enacted by the Political Reform Act of 1974.  For specific information, and to access the Fair Political Practices Commission website, click on the following link: fppc.ca.gov .

Campaign Disclosures

Copies of all Officeholder/Candidate and Political Action Committee Campaign Disclosure Statements are filed with the Paradise Town Clerk, the local filing official.  Copies are available for public view at the Town Clerk Department.  Contact Melanie Elvis at 530-872-6291 Extension 101 or email melvis@townofparadise.com if you have any questions.

The FPPC posts all Forms 700, Statements of Economic Interest, on their website.  The public may view these forms at fppc.ca.gov. by clicking on the Form 700 link or view Form 700s (SEIs) filed by elected officials.

Interested in Running for Council?

If you are interested in running for public office in the Town of Paradise, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Must be 18 years or older
2. Must be a registered voter in the Town of Paradise at the time nomination papers are issued
