EWS Test Notice February 18, 2026
2/9/2026- IMPORTANT UPDATE: To help get as many units into residents’ homes as possible, this month’s Emergency Warning Siren (EWS) system test will be moved to Wednesday, February 18 at Noon. This test will also mark the first time the new in-home SAFE units will be tested, giving residents a chance to see and hear how they work. The test will also give staff valuable time to refine and troubleshoot the system well ahead of the upcoming fire season.
Town officials encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen household emergency preparedness.
IMPORTANT UPDATE 1/7/2026- Residents will not receive notifications before the monthly Emergency Warning System tests. As we complete this transition from CodeRED to Smart9-1-1 the ability to send these non-emergency notifications will return and be utilized. Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your continued efforts to stay informed by registering with Smart9-1-1.
Today’s Emergency Warning System (EWS) test will include outdoor warning systems only. Indoor safe units will NOT be activated as part of this test.
Emergency Warning System Monthly Test –Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 12:00 PM (NOON).
Please note: Test times may be delayed if Paradise Police Dispatch is responding to active emergencies. We will conduct the test as close to noon as possible.
What to Expect:
- A voice command: “This is a test of the Paradise Early Warning Sirens.”
- A 45-second siren tone
- A final voice command repeating the message
Once the last voice command is played that will conclude that month's test of the EWS system.
This is only a test. No action is needed.
Thank you for your understanding as we continue to test and maintain our emergency systems to keep our community safe.
Emergency Warning Siren Update - In-Home Units
The units are being provided at no cost through funding from a FEMA/Cal OES Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). They were made available to help ensure residents can stay informed and aware of emergency situations while inside their homes.
The in-home devices plug into a standard wall outlet and provide both audible and visual alerts whenever the Town’s emergency warning sirens are activated. A limited number of units are available and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
Residents do not need to pre-register. Units can be picked up in person at Paradise Town Hall, 5555 Skyway, Paradise, CA, during normal business hours.
Due to the CodeRED outage, previous subscribers will not be automatically moved to the new alert system. The Town and County have contracted with Smart911/Rave Alert to provide emergency alerts for our community. All residents must re-enroll to continue receiving emergency alerts.
