PRESS RELEASE- 23-0959 Arrest for Graffiti Vandalism

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: December 23, 2023

Paradise Police officers responded to Grocery Outlet on Skyway for a report of graffiti to the building that occurred sometime during the previous night. Video surveillance footage depicted a male in a red Ford Mustang was responsible for the damage. The male was wearing a black face mask and a black hoodie sweatshirt with a distinctive circular shaped graphic decal printed on it.

Officers canvassed the area north and south of the location and discovered additional businesses along Skyway were targeted with the same symbols during the same night. The Paradise Police Department requests any victims of recent graffiti and vandalism, matching the attached images, to contact us as soon as possible.

A few hours later, Officers located a red Ford Mustang that looked like the one depicted in the video surveillance footage. Officers made a traffic enforcement stop for speeding on Elliott Rd. The male driver matched the male from the video surveillance footage and was even wearing the same hoodie sweatshirt. The driver was identified as 39-year-old Brian Orison of San Francisco.

A brief struggle ensued when Orison refused to exit the vehicle when directed. Orison was ultimately removed from the vehicle and detained in handcuffs. During the detention, Orison dropped his cell phone, revealing that the back of the case to his cell phone bore a hand drawn symbol that matched the symbols spray painted at various businesses on Skyway.

During a search of Orison's vehicle, numerous spray paint cans and a black facemask were located. The spray paint was the same color paint as the graffiti on the businesses. During an interview, Orison claimed he was a "city guy" and didn't think it was a big deal. Orison was booked in the Butte County Jail for obstructing/resisting, vandalism, and driving with a suspended drivers license. His with bail set at $19,000.
