FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 25-0744 / Possession of stolen property
Date:
August 15, 2025
On August 15, 2025, the Paradise Police Department was contacted by the Regional Crime Suppression Unit (a combined unit from Reno PD and Sparks PD) requesting assistance with an investigation involving the use of stolen credit cards to purchase wholesale meat and fish from Sierra Meat and Seafood in Reno.
The investigation determined the stolen goods were being delivered to an address on Joseph’s Court in Paradise, CA. The delivery driver was contacted and interviewed, and it was determined the driver was unaware the transactions were fraudulent. The driver was released without charges.
Detective Archuleta of the Paradise Police Department, along with investigators from the Regional Crime Suppression Unit, contacted 51-year-old Paradise resident Juan Yepezgarcia, who had arranged multiple deliveries of meat with a total estimated value of $31,883.79. During the investigation, Yepezgarcia admitted to officers that he suspected the items he was receiving were likely stolen. Detectives located several freezers on the property filled with meat, along with boxes still bearing wholesale labels.
Yepezgarcia was arrested for possession of stolen property and booked into Butte County Jail with bail set at $15,000.
Sierra Meat and Seafood was contacted and made arrangements to retrieve the stolen property.
This case remains under investigation in coordination with the Regional Crime Suppression Unit. The Paradise Police Department would like to thank the unit for their assistance in this investigation.
