Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Mission Statement

The Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program is a volunteer organization committed to assisting the Paradise Police Department in their goal of enhancing community safety, protecting life and property, reducing crime, and reducing the fear of crimes. In conjunction with our mission, the role of every member of the Volunteers in Police Service is to promote public education and public awareness to create a safer community.

Volunteer for Paradise Animal Shelter Helpers (PASH)

Paradise Animal Shelter Helpers (PASH) has been helping animals on the Paradise Ridge since 1986. Volunteers with PASH contribute in many ways, including socializing animals in the shelter, keeping the shelter clean and tidy, and helping maintain the outdoor animal areas and shelter grounds. PASH also pays for all adopted animals to be spayed or neutered and for the medical needs of animals in the shelter.

Emergency Operations Center Volunteers (EOC)

In the event of an emergency, the Town of Paradise calls upon a dedicated group of volunteers who have been trained to support the Town in keeping the citizens of Paradise safe. Volunteers may help by answering phones, ordering supplies, and general support activities when an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated.

Johnny Appleseed Days

First held in 1888, the fair now known as Johnny Appleseed Days is the oldest harvest in the state! In 2015 we celebrated the 127th anniversary of this treasured Paradise tradition, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce since 1937. The two-day fall festival celebrates Paradise's apple heritage with homemade apple pie and ice cream during the first weekend in October. Paradise residents and Members of the Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce bake one thousand apple pies, available whole and in slices.

Gold Nugget Days

Gold Nugget Days celebrate finding a 54 - pound gold nugget in 1859. The celebration began in 1959 and has continued every year since. The celebration of the discovery of the Dogtown nugget takes place in late April each year.

Gold Nugget Days holds a parade with a contest for best entry, as well as a children's costume contest, Melodrama, Sunday at the Museum, Donkey Derby, Highlanders and Miners Ball, and the Miss Gold Nugget Pageant.
