FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Arrests Made At Paradise High School Event
Date: October 23, 2025
On the evening of October 22, 2025, the Paradise Police Department responded to a report from a faculty
member at Paradise High School regarding two individuals found sleeping in a vehicle parked in a
disabled parking stall near the school’s football field during a school event.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle occupied by Alex Fernandez (37) and Desiree Gomez (41), both
residents of Chico. Officers determined that Fernandez was on Post Release Community Supervision
(PRCS) and had an active felony warrant for violating the terms of his supervision.

A search of Fernandez’s person and belongings, conducted in accordance with his PRCS terms, resulted
in the discovery of approximately 22.6 grams of methamphetamine and multiple items of drug
paraphernalia. Officers also learned that Fernandez had driven to the school while his driver’s license
was suspended due to a prior DUI conviction.

Fernandez was arrested and booked on the following charges:
• Felony Warrant
• 3455(b)(1) PC – Violation of PRCS Terms
• 11377(a) HS – Possession of a Controlled Substance
• 11364(a) HS – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• 14601.2(a) VC – Driving with a Suspended License (DUI Related)

Gomez was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested for 647(f)
PC – Public Intoxication.

The vehicle was towed from the scene as neither occupant had a disability or lawful reason to park in a
disabled parking space to ensure accessibility for those with disabilities.

The Paradise Police Department would like to thank the Paradise High School staff for their vigilance and
cooperation. This partnership exemplifies our shared commitment to maintaining a safe environment for
students and keeping dangerous drugs out of our community.
