For Immediate Release: Alert Citizens Lead to Bicycle Theft Arrest

Date: March 18, 2026

On March 18, 2026, the Paradise Police Department responded to a report of two high-value bicycles
stolen from a residence on the 7700 block of Skyway.

The victim provided a detailed description of the stolen bicycles, and officers took a theft report.

Just hours later, several vigilant citizens contacted the Paradise Police Department after observing a
woman pushing two bicycles along the Paradise Memorial Bike Path. The citizens provided descriptions
of the bicycles to dispatch. The dispatcher quickly recognized the descriptions matched the recently
reported stolen bikes and immediately sent officers to the area.

Upon arrival, one of the reporting citizens identified a vehicle associated with the woman. A records check
on the vehicle led officers to a nearby residence, where they contacted Anna Bennett, a Paradise resident.
She matched the description provided by witnesses and later admitted to the theft.

Anna was taken into custody and booked into the Butte County Jail on felony theft charges. Both bicycles
were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

The Paradise Police Department extends its sincere thanks to the citizens whose quick thinking and
cooperation directly led to the suspect’s apprehension and the successful recovery of the stolen property.

The Department also encourages all residents to take proactive steps to protect their valuables:
• Document the serial numbers, make, model, color, and any unique markings or photos of bicycles and
other high-value items.
• Register bicycles with free online services such as Project529.com, BikeIndex.org, or BikeRegistry.com.

Having this information readily available helps law enforcement quickly identify ownership and return
recovered property to its rightful owners.
