On 08/13/2025 at approximately 0331 hours, Paradise Police Officer Wood observed a vehicle with a non-functioning light. Officer Wood conducted a traffic enforcement stop for the equipment violation at Clark Road and Cabernet Lane. Officer Wood contacted the driver and sole occupant, Sarah Cushman. Officer Wood asked Cushman if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. Cushman admitted to having a methamphetamine bong in the vehicle. Cushman later admitted to also possessing methamphetamine that was in the vehicle.
In the vehicle, Officer Wood located the methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. In total Officer Wood located approximately half an ounce of methamphetamine that was packaged in thirteen individual bags varying in weight.
Cushman admitted to possessing the methamphetamine and only selling it to her “friends” during a mirandized interview with Officer Wood. Cushman gave consent to Officer Wood to view her cellphone. Officer Wood located a mobile payment service with amounts being sent to Cushman. The amount of money being received by Cushman was consistent with the individualized bag weights and the statements made by her.
Cushman was booked into the Butty County Jail on charges including possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, transportation of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
