FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Felon in Possession of Firearm
Date:
October 26, 2025
On 10/26/2025 at approximately 2306 hours, Officer Eidhammer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding near Skyway and Thomasson Lane.

During the contact, Officer Eidhammer identified the driver as Alexis Garcia, a member of the Sureños criminal street gang. Once Officer Newsom arrived and while speaking with Garcia, Officer Eidhammer lawfully instructed him to exit the vehicle. Garcia refused multiple commands to exit the vehicle and became physically uncooperative when officers tried to place him under arrest.

After a brief struggle, officers were able to safely detain Garcia in handcuffs. Garcia continued to pull away from officers during the search of his person. During the search of Garcia, officers located a loaded firearm in his waistband.

A records check revealed the suspect is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. He was arrested for multiple charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, and numerous others firearm related charges.

Garcia and the Officers on scene were not injured. The suspect was transported to the Butte County Jail for booking. Garcia's bail was set at $269,000.
The Paradise Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement and to keeping illegal firearms out of the hands of convicted felons and criminal street gang members.
