PRESS RELEASE- 9/10/23- EQUINE RESCUE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: September 10, 2023

At about 9:30 PM, two concerned citizens reported a horse trotting down Pentz Rd below Bille Rd. Officers M. Wood and K. Tuck responded and located the horse exploring the property of the Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The horse was not frightened or aggressive, merely anxious to carry on with his moonlight adventure. With some difficulty, Officers were able to clip Officer Wood's K9 leash onto the horse's bridle. Officers quickly christened the horse "Seabiscuit". Officer Tuck previously owned horses and was able to soothe Seabiscuit.

Officer Wood telephoned Animal Control Supervisor Mollie St. John, who was off duty at the time. Based on the horse's description, ACO St. John was able to identify and contact the owners. The owners arrived and explained to the officers that Seabiscuit's name was actually "Guapo", which is Spanish for "Handsome". As Guapo was, in fact, very handsome, officers conceded that he was aptly named.

Guapo was released to his owners who walked him back home.
