Press Release: Paradise Police Department

The Paradise Police Department recently received a CyberTip from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force database system regarding the possible possession and distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), commonly referred to as “child pornography,” as defined under California Penal Code 311.4.

Detective Archuleta initiated an investigation upon receipt of the CyberTip. After reviewing the digital files provided, detectives confirmed the material contained explicit images and videos of child sexual abuse.

Through investigative follow-up, Detective Archuleta identified a suspect associated with the files as Maxwell Vineyard, 36, a resident of Paradise, California. Based on the evidence collected, Detective Archuleta obtained and served a search warrant at Vineyard’s residence. During the service of the warrant, multiple electronic devices were seized for forensic examination.

A forensic review of Vineyard’s cellphone revealed numerous illegal images consistent with CSAM.

As a result of the investigation, Maxwell Vineyard, 36, was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on the following felony charges:

• PC 311.11(a): Possession of Child Pornography

• PC 311.1(a): Distribution of Child Pornography

Bail was set at $150,000.

The Paradise Police Department remains committed to protecting children and holding individuals accountable who exploit them. The Department will continue to work closely with the ICAC Task Force, the Butte County District Attorney’s Office, and other partner agencies to identify and investigate these crimes.

Anyone with information related to this investigation, or any other case involving the exploitation of children, is encouraged to contact Sergeant Alvies or Detective Archuleta at (530) 872-6241.
