FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: “SPEED CATCHES UP WITH YOU CAMPAIGN”
Date: July 14, 2025
The Paradise Police Department previously announced our participation in the Speeding Catches Up
With You campaign, along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) and the
California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The purpose of this campaign is to mitigate driving behaviors
that contribute to traffic-related fatalities on our Town's roads.
Since July 4, 2025, Paradise Police Officers have conducted 65 traffic enforcement stops in addition to
their other responsibilities to the public. These traffic stops have resulted in:
Traffic citations:
Speed related violations (19)
No proof of insurance (17)
Unregistered vehicles (14)
Unlicensed driving (7)
Lighting violations (2)
Cell phone use (1)
Red light violation (1)
Driving left of double yellow lines (1)
Arrests:
Possession of illegal drugs (4)
Driving Under the Influence (4)
Illegal speed contests (2)
Failure to correct previous violations (2)
Outstanding arrest warrant (1)
In total, 14 vehicles have been impounded or stored as a result of these enforcement actions.
There were two traffic collisions during this time period.
The Paradise Police Department remains committed to leveraging its resources to professionally and
proactively address criminal activity in our community. Traffic enforcement is just one avenue through
which investigations can begin and public safety can be improved.
