On 10/26/2025 at approximately 2306 hours, Officer Eidhammer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding near Skyway and Thomasson Lane.

On September 26, 2025, the Paradise Police Department was contacted by a concerned citizen reporting that an adult male was engaged in electronic communications with a decoy account posing as a 14-year-old female.

The citizen provided evidence to investigators indicating that Devin Olah, a resident of Paradise, had sent sexually explicit material to the decoy, whom he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. During the course of these communications, Olah also attempted to arrange an in-person meeting with the decoy.

The Paradise Police Department wants to inform local business owners of an uptick of fraudulent phone credit card transactions. In a recent cases, businesses have accepted credit card payments over the phone, have released merchandise to the purchasers, and later discovered that the credit card used was stolen/fraudulent and the payment was invalid.

On August 15, 2025, the Paradise Police Department was contacted by the Regional Crime Suppression Unit (a combined unit from Reno PD and Sparks PD) requesting assistance with an investigation involving the use of stolen credit cards to purchase wholesale meat and fish from Sierra Meat and Seafood in Reno.

Speeding Catches Up With You

On 03/20/2025 at approximately 3:53 AM, PPD officers responded to the Paradise Boutique Apartments, located at 5900 Canyon View Drive on a report of a subject who was intoxicated, armed with a sword, actively damaging property and suffering from hallucinations.

On January 19, 2025, at approximately 2353 hours, Paradise Police Officers, Cal Fire, and Butte EMS Personnel responded to the 800 block of Violet Way on the report of a 5-month-old baby not breathing.  PPD officers arrived on scene and began life saving measures.  Cal Fire and Butte EMS personnel arrived on scene and took over medical care.  Unfortunately, life saving measures did not work and the baby was pronounced deceased at the scene.

January 3, 2025

On the above date at about 9:27 PM Paradise Police Officers responded to a report of a male subject, seen on surveillance, inside Paradise Cinema 7. The cinema has been closed since the Camp Fire in 2018 and has repeatedly been broken into and vandalized over the years.

A two-vehicle collision occurred on the Skyway near Adventist Health, at approximately 3:50 PM on December 18, 2024. The incident involved a Toyota truck traveling southbound and a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Darian Ocampo, a Magalia resident, who was suspected of driving under the influence.

According to authorities, Ocampo’s vehicle pulled out of the medical center's exit directly into the path of the oncoming Toyota truck, resulting in a collision. Both vehicles left the roadway, and Ocampo's vehicle rolled over.

Office of Traffic Safety Awards $40,000 Grant to the Paradise Police Department for Traffic Enforcement Program to Increase Safety on Roads

Paradise, Calif. – The Paradise Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support its ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on the roads. The grant program runs through September 2025.

On 10/06/2024 at approximately 0544 hours, Officer Archuleta conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a
white Nissan truck for a broken tail light. Officer Eidhammer utilized his police K9 "Phoenix" to conduct a
free air sniff around the Nissan. K9 Phoenix alerted to the odor of narcotics within the Nissan. Officers
conducted a search of the truck and located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

On the evening of Sunday, August 4, 2024, at about 6:30 PM, an alert citizen noticed a suspicious male climb over the fence of a local school. The citizen called Paradise Police and described the man as a white male adult with a backpack.

Paradise, CA- The Paradise Early Warning Siren (EWS) towers are in the final testing and configuration phase. To ensure the system’s effectiveness and reliability, the Town will conduct individual siren tower testing on Tuesday, May 7. Testing for the last 3 towers will occur between 8:00 AM to noon. These towers are located at Clark and Bille, Pentz and Pearson, and Pentz and Water Tower. This testing is crucial for the Town and its contractor to assess sound levels and confirm the proper configuration of each tower within the system.

On 04/05/2024 at about 1:30 P.M. Paradise Police Officer Duong responded to the lobby of the Paradise Police Department on a report of stolen construction equipment.

In summary, the reporting victim advised officers a 2017 White Freightliner M2 dump truck was stolen from the parking lot of 5810 Clark Road sometime during the night between April 5th and April 6th 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM.

On 02/16/2024 at about 1100 hrs, Officers with the Paradise Police Department, Paradise Animal Control, the Northwest SPCA and Paradise Animal Shelter Helpers responded to the area near Clark Road and Skyway on a report of a loose wolf hybrid canine.

The canine has been reported to be loose for approximately the last three years and despite prior attempts to trap and capture the dog, officers were unsuccessful. During this time, the dog unfortunately killed livestock for food.

Paradise Police officers responded to Grocery Outlet on Skyway for a report of graffiti to the building that occurred sometime during the previous night. Video surveillance footage depicted a male in a red Ford Mustang was responsible for the damage. The male was wearing a black face mask and a black hoodie sweatshirt with a distinctive circular shaped graphic decal printed on it.

On 12/14/2023, the Butte County District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for the arrest of Magalia resident James Slack for violation of 191.5(a) PC (Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated). The warrant was issued after the results of a toxicology report and further follow-up investigation conducted by the Paradise Police Department. Slack was involved in a fatal DUI collision in Paradise on 9/10/2023, which resulted in the death of 83-year-old Magalia resident Josine Clara Brown.

On October 24, 2023, at 3:42 PM Paradise Police investigated a report of identity theft involving a Paradise resident. The victim reported her credit card was possibly lost/stolen on October 4, 2023, at Subway in Paradise, and later used to purchase several items online at Wayfair.com. According to the victim, at least one of the fraudulently purchased items, identified as an area rug, was delivered to a local address in Paradise.

On 10/11/2023, at approximately 1718 hours, Paradise Police Officers were working patrol in the area of Clark Road and Pearson Road. Officers observed a vehicle displaying expired registration and an inoperable brake light fail to stop at a red light. Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle as it turned into the Hootch Hut parking lot, 637 Pearson Road.

Shortly after 3:00 PM, Paradise PD officers responded to a residence on Ashland Ln, Paradise, for a report of an assault with a firearm. The victim, (Name Withheld), reported that Delman Shaulis III, 46 years old, held a loaded pistol to her heart and struck her with the muzzle of the pistol. The victim managed to get away from Mr. Shaulis and called for help.

The VIPS have served the Town of Paradise since August 1998 by assisting the Paradise Police Department to enhance community safety, security, and trust, while helping to protect life and property, and reduce crime. The VIPS collectively contribute thousands of hours of service to the Town every year.

On 08/16/2023, around 0745 hours, the Paradise Police Department received information from the Paradise High School regarding a message about a bomb in a classroom at the school. School staff and Paradise Police Officers investigated the source of the message and spoke to several students and parents. The message appeared to be generated over the weekend over a group discussion on the Snapchat App. A screenshot of the message passed through several individuals before reaching the school administration.

Butte County and Paradise Police Department officials today announced they were officially notified just days ago that the California Department of State Hospitals has proposed housing a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) from Santa Cruz County at a private residence in the Town of Paradise for outpatient treatment.
